![]() ![]() I ended up generating an amazing map, w/a high tier in wasteland and a high tier in winter on either side of a small chunk of forest, and desert just a little bit away. So, find a seed w/a biome you like, then play around w/those settings, and if you find a configuration you like, write it down, and when you're done experimenting, use those values. *however* - using the same vales in the advanced editor (in single player) will keep the same POIs/etc. So, the seed keeps the biomes exactly the same, but if you play around in the advanced editor, changing the values does make the map different. Gamename should be unique ( not a name that has been used before) - if you have no problem with it justove on, i just mentioned it because it caused problems when i tried to get my g-portal up and running for the first time :)Īs a last tip, use the backup function from g-portal to be on the save side. Then when you are happy with the result copy it over to your server.Īnd last but not least there is a GameName and a GameWorld. When you want to play around a bit, i would do this on your local machine, try some seeds and settings or search online for good seeds. When you generate the map on your local PC you could also change some of the map generation settings. When you generate a new world you should use a new seed otherwise you would get the same map. But the map alone will work (you will then have a fresh start for all players). ![]() The savegame does not work without the map. The first is the actual savegame, containing the savegames of all players on your server (or from your local PC) Glad you got one step further and thanks for silver :) You mentioned changing the name of the GameWorld, but that field in gportal is a dropdown, and it looks like it only refers to the folders listed in /Data/Worlds Is there a way I can try to save off what was already created, run the RWG again w/the same seed, but then switch back and forth between two different generations of that seed? The map gen was a little odd, and the player start area was way out of the way. png files in the later, and saw that they (roughly) matched up with the seed I was wanting it to create!! I logged in the server, and verified that it all worked! While watching through logs, and checking the directories you mentioned, I saw that it actually gened the world I wanted!! Though I do see the map name in two different areas: Ok, so this was a lot of help! A handful of hours ago, I tried turning the server off, blanking out gamename and worldgenseed, saving, changing those two to the name of the seed I wanted to gen, saving, then turning the server on.
